The famous Edible Garden
|
The "Edible Garden" is a part of the Australian Open Garden Scheme and is situated at 29 Regent Street Mount Waverley. The emphasis is on growing herbs, vegetables and flowers in a mix of colour, perfume and visual effects. A passionate cook, renowned author of more than 27 cooking books, and cooking school demonstrator, Beverley offers seasonal lunches, morning or afternoon tea in conjunction with a private conducted tour of the garden. These are proving popular for birthdays, special anniversaries, kitchen teas, and corporate functions as a refreshing and intimate alternative to a restaurant dining experience. |

Menus for the lunches are changed to suit the seasonal produce at the time and there is no choice but we are happy to send a copy of the menu in advance. Where possible, our own produce is used in every menu, baby lettuce, herbs, carrots, tiny turnips, spinach, etc. Dietary concerns can of course be catered for. Wander down the paths lined with many varieties of thyme, visit the checkerboard herb area and taste some of the fragrant herbs see the varieties of olive and fruit trees mingling with dozens of roses and learn about companion planting.
The main vegetable gardens have one section devoted to Mediterranean vegetables and a second area where Asian herbs and vegetables feature.
Garden notes are provided with the story of the creation of this garden which is a celebration of the link between beautiful produce and the kitchen. View Cooking Classes 2009 |
